Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the most frequently asked questions about EXAGEN.

Does EXAGEN need activation?

No. The active substance forms on contact with water, without a separate activating agent.

Is EXAGEN temperature-stable?

Yes, up to 80 °C. The shelf life is two years from the date of purchase.

What does EXAGEN act against?

EXAGEN is used to combat waterborne germs, including Legionella, E. coli and Pseudomonas, and biofilms in water-carrying systems.

How compatible is EXAGEN with materials?

Material compatibility applies when the recommended dosage and contact time are observed. The undiluted concentrate is corrosive and can corrode metals. After use, the system is rinsed out completely. For sensitive materials, we will advise you in advance.

How is EXAGEN dosed?

Please refer to the technical documents in the downloads section for specific dosing recommendations and process steps, or request advice.

In which formats is EXAGEN available?

EXAGEN is available as a liquid concentrate in a 250 ml bottle, for manual use as well as for automated dosing systems.

Which industries is EXAGEN suitable for?

EXAGEN is suitable for more than 20 industries, wherever pipes, containers and tanks are disinfected: from healthcare and food production through hotels and public institutions to transport, industry and private households.

May EXAGEN remain in drinking water?

No. EXAGEN disinfects systems that carry drinking water; it is not intended for permanent addition to drinking water. Chlorine dioxide and the second chlorine-oxide component are each permitted individually in the Trinkwasserverordnung (German Drinking Water Ordinance), but their mixture is not. That is why the system is rinsed out completely after use.

What do I need to observe when handling EXAGEN?

EXAGEN is corrosive and causes severe skin burns and eye damage. Wear protective gloves and eye protection, work in well-ventilated rooms and do not mix the concentrate with acids, because toxic gases are formed. Keep the concentrate out of reach of children. Always read the label and product information before use.

How does EXAGEN differ from asepticaPRO?

EXAGEN is the direct successor: no activation needed, temperature stability up to 80 °C and a shelf life of two years from the date of purchase. Unlike asepticaPRO, EXAGEN must be flushed out after treatment.
